Well for now it looks like a smart move. If the UAW wont help the Industry why should the Taxpayers. We'll see if this holds in the comming weeks.
Mike
Finally someone is thinking. The UAW has to be forced into new affordable contracts. Or better yet close up. They have raped the auto industry for years. Let them file chapter 11 and come up with a workable plan, or no money. For all the UAW members, what goes around eventually comes around. You milked the cow dry, now I hope it is your turn to pay the piper.
The main interest of the GOP is to bust all unions.I've voted Republican for many years, but this is wrong. The UAW retirees took less pay each year to pay for insurance and a pension. We have helped our country for many years by using our wages In The USA,not some Foreign country. For many years our factories helped cities and small towns with our taxes. Now the same people are crying to the congress that we don't deserve a LOAN.We have slowly given our country away to foreign interests. This is the last large industry we have left. When they fail, who will build our military equipment? Those same countries that now hold us hostage for their sevices?Lets ask the congress if they are willing to cut their pensions and insurance.Benefits payed buy the people. The same people that went into dark, dirty, oily, auto factories.Sometimes working many overtime hours to feed their children.Children who didn't go the private schools, unlike many in Washington. We simply could not afford it with our GREAT pay.
Many say,too bad they worked for the wrong company. We can say the same thing about our Senators and Congressmen.Too bad,the company you work for is now broke. Our country, their employer. We demand that you take pay cuts, and give up your health insurance. If they would do that, our national budget would look great!Maybe we could get some of the Foreign leaders to come over and help us.It's only fair. Right?
